Abstract

Diverticular disease is common in western countries. We present the case of a 90-year-old female patient with diverticular sigmoiditis complicated with perforation into de retroperitoneum and subsequent fistulization towards the gluteal region. Colo cutaneous fistulization is described in 1 - 3% of cases of complicated diverticular disease. Perforation to the retroperitoneum and posterior sigmoid-gluteal fistula is exceptional.
