Abstract

Introduction: Anorectal trauma is a rare cause of consultation to the emergency service; in the literature they report an incidence of 1% to 3%. They are often associated with life-threatening injuries; For this reason, it is essential to know the principles of diagnosis and treatment, as well as the initial care protocols for polytraumatized patients.

Method: We report a case of a 47-year-old male patient with blunt anorectal trauma with internal and external anal sphincter involvement.

Primary Repair is performed with an overlapping technique, mucosal, submucosal and muscular proctorrhaphy of the anal canal.

With follow-up at 12 months, with good evolution without anorectal incontinence

Conclusion: The treatment of rectal trauma, with experience based on the 4D dogma (debridement, fecal diversion, presacral drainage, distal lavage), in extraperitoneal rectal injuries has become the choice.
